Web & Software: Corel startet modulare Grafik-Plattform

Corel hat heute seine Strategie für eine modulare Digital Imaging Plattform namens "Alta" vorgestellt, welche den Anwendern und Partnern höhere Flexibilität bei der Anpassung der Software an individuelle Bedürfnisse bieten soll. Die hybride Plattform soll im Herbst 2006 starten und Desktop- und Web-Anwendungen integrieren, um so einen "Rapid Enhancement Cycle" der Software zu erlauben.

Die Basis ist eine kostenlose Basis-Version von "Alta", welche die Verwaltung von Bild- und Video-Dateien erlauben soll. Funktionen und Komponenten können dann bei Bedarf kostenpflichtig von Corel oder seinen Business-Partnern dazugeladen werden.

Der Photo-Sharing-Service "Webshots" ist einer der ersten offiziellen Partner von Corel bei ihrem neuen Versuch.

Dazu Corels Chief Executive Officer David Dobson: "A key aspect of Corel's strategy is to expand our distribution channels and take advantage of new business models made possible by the growing importance of OEM and Internet channels. With our expanded strategy, customers will have easier access to their Corel software applications at any time and from anywhere."
